Tonight from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. CDT on 98.7WFMT Radio Chicago and via free streaming anywhere in the world at wfmt.com, I talk with the esteemed Polish composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki, 77, in a conversation recorded last month when he was in Chicago to conduct his own Concerto Grosso No. 1 for Three Cellos and Orchestra (2000) and Beethoven's Eroica Symphony at the Grant Park Music Festival. I also play several of his most important works from the first 15 years (1959-1974) of his international composing career.
The program will then be posted at wfmt.com/criticalthinking for free podcast, download, streaming indefinitely.
Here's my recent preview piece on his visit to Chicago and my review of the concert, both from the Chicago Sun-Times.
See you on the radio!
