We were there Thursday night, too, and I wholeheartedly agree with you on the Bates piece. Touches of Copland in the first two movements, then a more minimalist approach later, especially in the last movement. I hope the CSO records it -- it's a piece I'd very much like to hear again. Thanks for a great review!
