Tonight on Critical Thinking on 98.7WFMT Chicago and wfmt.com, I pay musical tribute to the dean of American composers, Elliott Carter, who died at his home in Greenwich Village earlier this month, five weeks shy of his 104th birthday.
I play Carter chamber compositions in a variety of genres tonight from the 1940s, 1974, and 1996, performed by Chicago, Ametican, British, and European musicians. There will be plenty of other opportunities to go into the history of Carter and his times and to be analytical. Tonight, just some great music, beautifully played and sung.
The hour-long program airs from 10 p.m to 11 p.m CST on 98.7WFMT Chicago and wfmt.com. The program then will be posted indefinitely at:
