Tonight (later than usual due to WFMT's opening night broadcast of Lyric Opera of Chicago's new Lucia di Lammermoor) from 11 p.m. to 12 midnight CDT on 98.7WFMT Radio Chicago and via free streaming anywhere in the world at wfmt.com, cast and production team members of Gary Griffin's new production of Stephen Sondeim's Follies opening Wednesday October 12 at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre on Navy Pier.
Chicago theatre veterans Hollis Resnick and Linda Stephens are joined by up and comer Kari Sorenson, casting director Bob Mason, and pianist Patrick Holland on the WFMT Steinway B in performance of excerpts and conversation.
The production of Sondheim's landmark 1971 29-person-cast show on a reunion of chorus girls and their beaus -- and oh so much more -- will run in a limited engagement only through November 6. Griffin's track record with Sondheim and other musical and non-musical theatre is remarkably strong so we've taken the unusual step for this program of taping and airing it while the show is still in previews and before I've seen it. Fingers crossed!
The program will then be posted at wfmt.com/criticalthinking for free podcast, download, streaming indefinitely.
