Muti closed the CSO's 2011-12 season this weekend with three performances of the Bruckner Sixth Symphony and Paganini's First Violin Concerto with concertmaster Robert Chen as soloist. (My review and season reflections are here.)
Muti heads home now to Ravenna for July performances of Hindemith's 1921 one-act Expressionist opera Sancta Susanna wth his Cherubini Youth Orchestra, to Tel Aviv for the Verdi Requiem with the Israel Philharmonic and New York's Collegiate Chorale, and, in August, to Buenos Aires for one of his rediscovered Mercadante operas, also with the Cherubini group, Muti's first opera at the legendary Teatro Colón. He's back in Chicago in mid-September to open the CSO season.
